There were many memorable dance moments in 2012 that happened both nationally and locally. I asked my Buffalo Dance Examiner Facebook and Twitter followers what their favorite moments were, and here were some responses:

-Mitch Simon: Seeing LehrerDance perform at the University at Buffalo, and Chehon winning So You Think You Can Dance. He was clearly the best dancer so it was nice that America noticed how good he was.

-Kelsey Williams: Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough’s Samba on Dancing with the Stars.

-Ashley Monaco: Winning the gala at Tremaine’s nationals in Orlando!

-Kathy Monaco: Watching Future Dance Center perform “Bombs” in Orlando in July 2012, and them winning the $5,000 prize in front of one of my favorites….Debbie Allen!!!

-Phil Brady: The Dance Fair and Expo comes to mind. It was great to see all those studios and forms in one place.

-Christine Hillyer: When my son, George, won the ‘Die Hard Dancer’ scholarship from Ivan Koumaev at NUVO dance convention.

-Jennifer Loft: Seeing Lindsay and Cole’s “Addiction” routine at Shea’s at the So You Think You Can Dance live tour.

-James Kress: Being in the dance off at NUVO and Ivan saying I was really dope.

-Alicia Blasi: My favorite dance related moment in 2012 would have to be performing at the Elmwood Art Festival with Habit Dance Project and the Mone Dance Company. I was grateful to have worked with different members of the Buffalo dance community, and being able to show my choreography. We had worked hard and made a lot of sacrifices over the summer, and I am looking forward to create more contemporary pieces with Habit Dance for 2013!

Besides the ones mentioned above, some of my personal favorite dance moments of 2012 include LehrerDance gaining international status, Jacob Artist becoming a cast member on ‘Glee,’ and seeing the Rockettes perform at Radio City Music Hall!

With 2012 coming to an end, I ask you to reflect on your year and your experiences. What were your favorite moments? What do you want to accomplish in 2013? Feel free to comment below with your answers!

May the New Year bring health and happiness to you all!
