Annie is a tiny dynamo who packs a big wallop when it comes to giving you a massage. The Korean immigrant knows her way around the muscles and has an uncanny knack for finding those areas that hurt most. She is the head masseuse at the Healing Spa in Studio City, a small, sparkling clean, two-woman spa where clients go for no frills therapeutic treatments.
There’s a steam room for each sex that’s more like a shower but gets the job the done. A therapy tub, facial and massage rooms and nothing more. But what do you expect when a top-notch, deep tissue, Shiatsu meets Swiss therapy massage costs a mere $50 for an hour (and if nobody’s waiting Annie goes longer).
This self-professed spa snob has been rubbed at super posh facilities from California to Italy and beyond, and can honestly say Annie is as good as it gets. And I pay full fare for my sessions, in case you wondered. I actually found the Healing Spa by accident one day when having a chiropractic treatment next door. After my session, the chiro suggested I go see Annie for a massage. Which I did. That was three years ago and not only do I keep going back, I bring my Richard (my husband) along for Annie to work her magic on.
We just had our couples’ massages yesterday. After which we were totally blissed out I didn’t think we’d be able to drive home.
While we only go there for massages, the spa does offer facials and waxing for ridiculously low prices.
