I love reading magazines in March (even though they can get super heavy). Just like the all important 'September Issue' for fall, the March issues are usually (if they're lucky) brimming with brilliant ads from designers and department stores. I chose my absolute favorite, based on mood and originality, to share with you.
I'm loving the Chanel ads featuring Stella Tennant. She looks like a matriarch with two somewhat rebellious teenage daughters.
Louis Vuitton features mod twins. Loving the bouffant hairstyles, ladylike and chic. The screaming yellow background is a spirit-lifter as well.
Gucci's sexy swirling print dresses are displayed lounging sexily. Photographers Mert and marcus are spectacular at evoking a sexily indolent atmosphere. Models featured are Anja Rubik and Carmen Pedaru.
The Diror ads kind of remind me of Calvin Klein's 'Obsession' ads and commercials from the 80s. Sterile, clean, and self-conscious. The beautifullly designed clothing shines against the white backgrounds. Willy Vanderperre is the photographer.
I love the disco vibe of the Givenchy ads, especially the ones with the one shoulder ruffled blouse. It resonates, and has a cinematic, mysterious quality. Mert + Marcus selected a stunning array of talent, including the consistently gorgeous Kate Moss.
Valentino's ads have a slightly nervous quality due to the slightly out of focus way that the Sarah Moon shot the images. The clothing is beautifully displayed, along with shoes and accessories, contrasted with white backgrounds and transparent lucite chairs. The campaign has a shimmering, about to disappear quality.
Last but not least, Mario Testino created a big, bold campaign that calls to mind the Mod Squad, Steve McQueen movies, and the designer Michael Kors' outrageous personality. Supersaturated colors against dark blue skies raise the standard of this series to poster perfect status.
