The Best Drugstore Foundation (Photos)

I have been getting quite a few requests lately to write about what I think is the best drugstore foundation and what I recommend. I have tried many over the years, and tried numerous ones on my clients. I compiled a list of the foundations that I think work best and are worth the money. Revlon was the winner for making the best drugstore foundations I realized. The best part of all is that it is perfect for people on a budget, because all of these foundations can be found for under $10.

1. Revlon Colorstay

You can find this is in two types; one for combination to oily skin and one for normal to dry skin. This foundation is a favorite among many people. It has tons of shades so you can find one that will match your skin color. This foundation is also very long lasting. It says up to 24 hours, but I don't believe it lasts THAT long, plus who wears foundation for 24 hours?! Revlon Colorstay is a full coverage foundation where a little goes a long way. It dries semi-matte with just a touch of shine. I noticed that the one for oily skin dries more matte looking than the one for dry skin, but remember to always set your foundation with a powder. The only downside I have found with this foundation is that it dries very fast, and once it dries it is set in place, so when using this foundation you have to make sure you work quickly.

2. Revlon Photo Ready

This is another wonderful foundation from revlon. It comes in many shades so you can find the perfect color for you. This foundation is a lighter coverage than the Colorstay ones. I would consider this foundation to be light to medium coverage. It gives your skin an airbrushed look and also a glowy dewy look, because it contains very tiny particles of shimmer. If you want more of a natural look I would recommend this foundation. If you have oily skin I would not recommend this one, because the shimmer can emphasize the oil.

3. Revlon Colorstay Whipped

This is a relatively new foundation that Revlon has come out with. It is the same thing as their original Colorstay foundation but instead it is "Whipped" and comes in different packaging. I really like this new one, and feel that it is easier to apply than the original Colorstay but it is just a slightly lighter coverage. The lasting power on this foundation is also very good, and stays put all day.

4. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Treatment Makeup

This foundation from Maybelline is targeted for people with wrinkles, but it can be used on any skin type, no matter the age. This foundation glides on very smoothly, is easy to blend and gives a light finish. It also has a very light feel so you forget it is there. It has a unique kind of packaging where there is a sponge at the top, and you turn the bottom until the foundation comes out of the top and you dab it onto your face, then blend. I would compare this foundation to Makeup Forever's HD Foundation, I feel that it is a very similar coverage, and performs just the same. Except, it is less than half the price!
