The best and worst dressed of the Oscars 2014 red carpet

The hoopla surrounding the 86th Academy Awards which was televised yesterday, March 3 is finally over and surprisingly enough instead of the best and worse dressed of the evening along with the winners and the losers being the hottest topics, the hottest trending topics go to Ellen DeGeneres for her go down in Twitter history Oscars selfie and her pizza delivery onstage. But aside from that the evening was a pretty memorable one and fulfilled its promise of being one of the best Oscar nights ever...even at 3 ½ hours long.

Now back to the red carpet! The Oscars are definitely a night to remember and it's one night that's all about pure glamour and full on lux. Some of course never fail to deliver in their execution like Charlize Theron and Jennifer Lawrence both in Dior while some left us amazingly surprised like newcomer Lupita Nyong'o who blew everyone away in a to die for light blue custom Prada gown (perfect for Cinderella and perfect for her!) and Lady Gaga in Versace. Absolutely stunning!

There where several not so wow moments though like Julia Roberts in black Givenchy and Glenn Close in Lanvin or that one moment when we felt that we were at a quinceañera with Christy Teigen in her pink and black Monique Lhuillier. Not that any of these dresses were ugly or bad per se, they just didn't feel or look Oscar worthy enough.

And then there was Liza Minnelli. Oh Liza...what happened? The vintage Halston electric blue trouser suit was perfect for you as well as the electric blue punky streak of blue hair. From there though it just goes downhill. How could you forget a bra? Or was it a case of malfunctioning breast lift tape and nipple concealers? If that was the case...why didn't you carry extras in your bag? And those shoes! Those insane and awfully ugly shoes! They were too flat and generic looking and made of some suede-ish materials that were so scuffed up, especially in the front! How could you wear vintage Halston with those shoes? Dear Liza, as much as I love you, I can only forgive so much.

As for the men at the Oscars? Let's be honest. It's really really hard to mess up a tuxedo but there's always got to be one or two who just can't seem to get it right well that would be Pharrell wearing a Lanvin suit...and shorts? On Oscar night? Really??

Personal favorite of the evening? Giuliana Rancic, co-anchor of E! News and co-host of Fashion Police looked exquisite in an all white beaded bodice princess Paolo Sebastian gown, fashion mishap and all.
