Hudson River Recycling.
We have all done it, driven by a scrap metal yard and assumed it was all a bunch of waste that would wind up in a landfill. After spending time down at Hudson River Recycling in the Port of Albany, I now know how wrong I was. Scrap metal yards are not waste management facilities but recycling facilities that produce valuable materials that are used in the cars we drive and the appliances we use. Over the next few weeks I will be spending more time getting to understand the industry to give a more accurate depiction of these arenas of junk in a series of photo essays.
