With beautiful garments flying down runways, fashionable show attendees getting caught mid-crosswalk in street-style photographs by paparazzi and fashion bloggers, not to mention the star-studded after parties, there are a lot of beautiful things to look at during one of the most important weeks of the year in the fashion industry. Last week, New York welcomed designers, models, and fashionistas from around the world to the coveted tents set up in Bryant Park. With three more weeks of Spring/Summer 2014 styles to be debuted in Milan, Paris and London, makeup and hair has proven, once again, to complete the looks that stylists have been perfecting for months leading up to these runway presentations.
Designers such as Kate Spade and Tibi were all about the statement, borderline retro, eye makeup looks to pair with their SS 2014 collections. Kate Spade, as usual had a collection presentation opposed to a runway show, where fresh shades of orange and pink were present with funky inner-corner highlights on the eyes. Tibi incorporated the same lower lash/inner-corner highlight instead of dark black or brown eyeliner for their show, as well.
On the streets, putting the fact that fall is the season approaching aside, spectators were photographed in a plethora of bright, spring colors, especially fused into the makeup they were wearing. Hot pinks and bright orange were popular lip trends in the street style realm of fashion week, which is expected when the styles of next spring and summer are the inspiration behind the weeklong event.
Other fashion houses, such as Marchesa and J. Mendel, kept things chic and clean when it came to the faces of their brand. With sleek ponytails and simplistic makeup, highlight bold eyebrows and lip color, the models looked elegantly effortless as they made their way down the runway.
Similar to what we saw in Spring 2013 at NYFW displaying the styles of fall 2013, sleek and straight hair is a major in right now in the world of fashion. Whether you pull it up into a ponytail or part it into the always strikingly chic middle part, be sure to keep your straightener at the ready when getting ready in the morning.
