The Beach Boys announce reunion tour and new album

The Beach Boys reunion tour commemorates five decades of music. Sending good vibrations to the music industry, this reunion comes after 46 years.

Members of the Beach Boys publicized Friday they will celebrate nearly 50 years by releasing a new album and upcoming tour in 2012.

No announcement yet as to when the group will headline in Chicago but fans are excited to hear they have reconciled for this reunion. The Beach Boys’ 50-date tour kicks off April 27, 2012 at the Jazz Fest & Heritage Festival in New Orleans.

The group lost original members Dennis Wilson (1983) and Carl Wilson (1998). Remaining members Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, and Bruce Johnston are back together. David Marks joins them saying, “I’m really looking forward to celebrating this important milestone in The Beach Boys’ history with the other guys, and with Capitol Records – where it all began 50 years ago.”

Reports indicate members are back in the recording studio this month. Putting their past differences behind them, Jardine said, “That stuff doesn’t permeate the atmosphere. Where you’re in the presence of greatness, you don’t wallow in that stuff.”

Over the years, members of the Beach Boys have toured without Brian Wilson. Performing their legendary songs, Wilson also covered material during his solo gigs.

It was 1965 when they last toured together and with an incomplete album in 1967 the group disbanded. Years of animosity wrestled between cousins, Mike Love and Brian Wilson.

Wilson announced the excitement about getting back together. “This anniversary is special to me because I miss the boys and it will be a thrill for me to make a new record and be on stage with them again,” Wilson said.

“Music has been the unifying and harmonizing fact of life in our family since childhood,” Love said. “It has been a huge blessing that we have been able to share with the world.”

These Californian surfers brought their love of sun, fun and fast cars during the 60’s era. With classical songs like, “Kokomo”, “I Get Around,” “Surfin’ U.S.A.”, and “Help Me Rhonda” these guys did it best. They have high expectations and their love for music will highlight the tour.

With a sound all of its own, their commemorative catalog release with Capitol/EMI will feature the 2012 international tour.

“It means a lot to me that we can all reunite and pay tribute to the fans, who have kept the music alive,” Marks said.

Inducted in 1988 to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, The Beach Boys were recently inducted into California’s Hall of Fame.

Jardine said, “From our humble beginnings as brothers, cousins and friends, we have been honored to sing praises of California. I’m really excited for our fans to be able to see us again in concert on the world stage, and to celebrate our 50th  anniversary together with a studio album.”

Fans can look forward to the upcoming Grammys Awards.

Jardine tells Rolling Stone, “There will be a surprise at the Grammys. We’ll do something really exciting. It’s going to be a very big operation.”

The Grammys are scheduled for February 12, 2012.
