“Mondays just got louder…” thanks to a new weekly competition at 3rd & Lindsley, aptly titled Battle on 3rd. The competition started on September 27th, and the initial rounds will continue through December 13th. (All shows kick off at 7pm.) Finals will be held in January.
As an added incentive to see Nashville rock, the shows leading up to the finals are all free. The competition is sponsored by El Jimador tequila, Lightning 100, Music City Unsigned, and 3rd & Lindsley.
The competition is structured to include a total of 36 bands. Four bands take the stage every Monday of each 3-week round; on the fourth week there is a semi-final show, where the winners of each night of that round will compete against each other. After three such cycles, the three semi-final winners will compete in the final competition show, to be held January 10th, 2011.
This Monday’s show features Philos, Jeffrey James, Don Gallardo and How Far West, and The Shakes. The winner will play again on October 18th, and compete against the winners of the previous two weeks: Joel Rakes and The Cold Stares.
Future bands in the competition will include The Future, Buffalo Clover, Kristen Rogers, The Westbound Rangers, Majestico, the Kopecky Family Band, and more. There are also a few slots left; any bands interested in competing should check the Battle on 3rd website.
