The Battered Body: A Supper Club Mystery by J.B. Stanley - a delicious mystery review

The Battered Body: A Supper Club Mystery by J. B. Stanley
The Battered Body cover

Set in Quincy’s Gap, Virginia, the “Diva of Dough” takes time from her successful cooking show to visit and bake the wedding cake for her sister Milla and her fiancé Jackson. The famous chef makes desserts so sweet, they are to die for. Literally. She is found murdered and covered in cake batter. The brash personality left a bitter taste in many mouths, which made a long suspect list. The Battered Body is the fifth in J.B. Stanley’s Supper Club Mystery series.

The Supper Club goes at it again to help solve the crime. The slightly overweight friends refer to themselves as the Flab Five and combine their master wits to fit the puzzle pieces together. With so many family members, business associates, and others who have reason to want the “Diva of Dough” dead, there are lots of prospects to narrow down, so their work is cut out for them.

The Battered Body is a light-hearted mystery that is fun to read with interesting plots and colorful characters. Virginia author J. B. Stanley paints a picture of small-town folks who become like your neighbors and friends. Like a sweet tooth, the book will leave you wanting more of J. B. Stanley’s mysteries. The book includes scrumptious recipes to the delicious food mentioned in the book as an extra bonus. Yum!
