One of the last big Mortal Instruments related announcements of 2012 was that popular character, Magnus Bane would get his own serialization of stories. The collection of stories will be written by YA authors Sarah Rees Brennan (Unspoken, Team Human) and Maureen Johnson (The Name of the Star, 13 Little Blue Envelopes.) One story in the series will be released every month via e-book format leading up to 'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones' film release on August 23, 2013. The print edition of ‘The Bane Chronicles’ will be released in 2014.
As exciting as this news Clare revealed Wednesday via Tumblr that the first story will in fact be released closer to April than the originally reported February. “I am actually still waiting on some details — the first installment is likely to be out closer to April than February, just because of the amount of time it takes in production to get it ready for Amazon, and the amount of time to create a cover, etc,” explains Clare. She also was quick to discuss the series and share a snippit from one of the stories by Sarah Rees Brennan.
