NASHVILLE, Tenn., March 8, 2013 - Grammy-winning trio The Band Perry are gearing up for the followup to 2010's self-titled debut. The new album's (Pioneer) lead single "Better Dig Two" recently spent an impressive two weeks in the penthouse on the Mediabase radio airplay charts. On Tuesday, March 5, Kimberly, Reid and Neil celebrated the milestone at their No. 1 party and chatted with reporters about their new single "DONE.," the overwhelming fan reaction and the upcoming music video.
“We just shot the music video yesterday and it basically, without giving too much of it away, is a human chess board come to life,” Kimberly tells to CountryMusicIsLove. “We play out this battle between us. The good guys win though. Spoiler alert.”
The new tune, described as a "cut the tie" song, was co-written by Reid and Neil, John Davidson and Jacob Bryant. “[DONE. is] basically about somebody giving all that they have to this other person in this relationship and the other person not giving anything in return and just taking and taking," Neil explains. "And eventually having enough of that that the first person just cuts the ties, cuts them loose and is completely done.”
Needless to say, the folk-driven trio have received an overwhelming fan reaction to the new tune. “What I’m really excited about is seeing fans Facebook and Tweet about the song,” Kimberly asserts. “They’re saying things like ‘all I want to be is done is the next few days of school and get on with the weekend,’ ‘all I want to be is done with chocolate which is my biggest addiction.’ It really is about anything you feel like you are needing to rise above.”
In other news, the family band may be headlining their first tour come this time next year. Kimberly tells ABC News Radio, “We’ve already started doing stage sketches. It’s amazing how much planning you have to do. You know what I mean? The calendar’s already getting full.” With even more new music underway, the group will certainly have plenty of songs to fill a full two-hour concert.
Take a listen to "DONE." here.
