Is anyone surprised? Maybe, but it's doubtful. Jake Pavelka's, the star of last season's "The Bachelor," rep confirmed this morning that the reality star and the winner of the show, Vienna Girardi have officially broken off their engagement.
Girardi, who was easily last season's most disliked contestant, won Pavelka's heart and was proposed to on the season finale with a gorgeous diamond sparkler. She stopped at virtually nothing to win her man and that included interrupting other girls' dates and slipping into Pavelka's bed late one night. Audiences were shocked when Pavelka made his choice considering Vienna never came across as the most stable on the television screen.
Pavelka, however, stayed strong and continued to confess his love for the 24 year old Florida native and she was even seen gracing the stands when Pavelka went on to compete in ABC's "Dancing With The Stars." Rumors floated about that Girardi might have been a tad jealous of her fiance's dance partner but those were silenced relatively quickly.
According to USA Today, "Yes, just a few weeks ago they seemed so happy. Vienna told E! in late May they were thinking of a wedding "probably next year, during the summer months." She was pondering a beach or island ceremony. And on June 11, at a Disneyland event, Jake joked they could get married there - "the land of happies!"
Emily Prickett, Lexington native and "Bachelor" fan, could hardly contain her excitement considering she routinely rooted against Vienna, "Honestly, I can't say I'm the least bit surprised or disappointed."
Looks like Mr. Pavelka has gained the title of bachelor yet once again.
