“The Bachelor” 2013 put Sean at the mercy of family members on Monday night's episode, Feb. 18, including a father who is a two-star general. Asking Lindsay’s father for his permission to marry his daughter ends up with a trip to the bathroom to throw up.
The Huffington Post on Tuesday suggested that Lindsay’s father put the decision back on Sean as he never gave a definite yes or no answer. Besides the General, it was Desiree’s brother who really made an impression on Sean, but it wasn’t in a good way. His rude inquiries shocked Desiree’s family and in the end it could be that the brother had a hand in Desiree being sent home.
As the family was getting ready to sit down to dinner, this is when Desiree’s brother asked to have a “holla” at Sean, apparently meaning a private talk. Nate called Sean a “playboy” and he said that he could see that his sister was really into him, but he wasn’t seeing this as mutual. He thought that Sean was just playing his sister and having some fun with the circumstances at hand. No matter what Sean said to him, he still thought Sean was playing along with some kind of game.
Desiree apologized for her brother’s behavior and Sean told her it was all good and not to worry, but apparently it wasn’t because Desiree didn’t get a rose and was sent home. She was devastated and she did say that Sean was making a big mistake. Was it the prospect of having Nate as a brother-in-law that factored into Sean’s decision?
Next week Sean has three women to choose from in this game show that finds love through a process of elimination. Desiree should really be thankful that she got to by-pass the final rose of the season because anyone who’s watched the “Bachelor” or “Bachelorette” knows that a marriage doesn’t seem to materialize.
In the end the "Bachelor" or "Bachelorette" couple usually makes it dating just a few months and then it’s over. There’s been a few that have followed through with a wedding, but the odds are against wedded bliss when a match is made on “The Bachelor.” If the contestants are looking for fame, they seem to get their 15 minutes and then fade away. There doesn't seem to be any long-lasting gains from doing this show.
