Tonight’s episode of The Bachelor was a first – Sean wanted to break the rules, so he flew into St. Croix with the women, which is unheard of. Naturally, Tierra made a big ordeal of not wanting to share a room with anyone else, so she pulled out a fold-out bed and set it up for herself. (She wasn’t there to make friends or share a bed with girls). The first one-on-one date arrived, and it was for AshLee. As she got ready, we heard Tierra say when she turns 32 like AshLee, she wants to be married and have kids by then.
Sean picked AshLee up, and the two of them swam out to a yacht, which they took to their own private island for the day. While they took a break from swimming, AshLee was honest with Sean and explained that he gets a different version of Tierra than everyone else and that she acts differently around the girls. Later, the two changed for dinner, and AshLee revealed (after about five minutes of fumbling around with her words) that she got married when she was 17. Sean commented on how young she was, but he didn’t care, and the two kissed. They stood on their chairs and shouted, “Hello St. Croix!” before AshLee shouted, “I love Sean!”
Back at the hotel, the next date card came for Tierra. For her first one-on-one date, Tierra was not excited to learn she would be exploring the city and immediately started complaining that they weren’t doing something fun, like boating. She was worried about bugs and her make-up dripping off. (She must not realize make-up also drips off when she constantly cries).
Tierra met Sean in town and went shopping before they came across a parade. The two of them joined in and danced. They worked up an appetite and got sno-cones. As they sat down to talk, Sean asked Tierra how things were going in the house with the other girls. She repeated her “I’m not here to make friends” story, and that was the end of it. That night, they changed and had dinner. Tierra told Sean she felt distant from him. Sean told her it had to do with the drama and women in the house – that may have put them further behind. They sat out on a pier after dinner, and Tierra told Sean she cares about him a lot and is falling for him.
In their hotel room, the girls sat around and discussed Tierra. AshLee revealed that she told Sean all about Tierra’s other side, and the girls were happy and hopeful she would leave this week. Later on, the group date card arrived for Catherine, Desiree, and Lindsay, leaving Lesley to go on the last one-on-one date.
At 4:42 a.m., Sean woke Desiree, Catherine, and Lindsay up for their date and gave them five minutes to get ready. Sean drove everyone to the other side of the island to see the sun rise. (Since this was the farthest point east in the United States, they were the first to see it rise). For the rest of their date, they worked their way back across the island to see all the sights and end up to the far west for the sunset. They stopped at a sugar mill, a café for lunch, a treehouse, and finally ended up at Sandy Point with time to spare before sunset, so they took a swim. Catherine and Lindsay started to feel like they were on a date with Sean and Desiree. Sean and Lindsay sat along the water’s edge to talk and laughed about her crazy first night in the wedding dress and reminisced about their time together. Catherine told Sean that her father probably wouldn’t be at her hometown date and explained that he suffers from depression. When she was 14, her father tried to commit suicide in front of her and her sisters and was taken away, so he now lives in China. As they sat, Catherine pointed out dolphins. Sean made Desiree cry just by asking what she wanted him to see during her hometown date. She explained that her family didn’t even meet her last ex because he wasn’t special enough. Sean rounded everyone up and offered Lindsay the rose. The sunset plan didn’t exactly pan out, since they couldn’t see the sun, so they shared a toast on the beach instead.
Lesley’s date card arrived, and she hoped they would have a great time on their date so that she could bring Sean home with her. AshLee and Lesley sat outside and talked about Tierra, who apparently could hear them from inside.
Sean and Lesley met at Mount Washington and went exploring and picked fruit. Sean told the camera his relationship with Lesley was just a bit behind the others, but Lesley told the camera she was falling in love with Sean. The two of them sat down for a picnic and discussed what Sean might experience on her hometown visit. Sean asked if there was anything Lesley wanted to tell him, and she said she could feel they have a lot of chemistry. Lesley chickened out before she could tell him anything about love. Instead, they went looking for more fruit.
Sean’s sister, Shay, came to visit and give Sean some advice. The two sat down, and Sean filled her in on each of the girls. As Sean told his sister about the drama with Tierra, she reminded him she told him not to end up with the girl no one else likes.
Meanwhile, in the hotel room, AshLee asked Tierra how her date went, and she turned it around and said other girls are sabotaging her relationship with Sean. When she wouldn’t name specific names, AshLee was set off and explained to her that she is a different person around Sean. Tierra said girls are jealous because guys love her. When Tierra left, AshLee walked into a bedroom, but Tierra followed her and continued the argument. AshLee explained she had tried saying good morning to her many times and asked her questions, only to get no response or blank stares or a raised eyebrow. Tierra had a great response: “That’s my face! I can’t help it!” When AshLee commented that Tierra’s parents had been worried she wouldn’t get along with the other girls, her response was that they actually said, “Tierra, you have a sparkle – do not let those girls take your sparkle away.” Another great line from Tierra: “I cannot control my eyebrow. I cannot control my face 24/7!”
Outside, Sean told his sister he would go grab Tierra so they could all talk. By the time he got inside, Tierra was crying on her cot. Sean questioned why she was acting that way. Through her tears, she told him she was scared of the process and didn’t know how to take it. She told him she confronted someone after she felt she was sabotaged, and Sean convinced her to tell him who. She was honest, but she made AshLee sound like a giant bully. (Anyone with eyes and a brain can see she is not). Sean stepped outside for a moment before returning inside to tell Tierra he had flown his sister out and wanted them to meet, but he thought it was best that she just leave right then. She started sobbing again, and he walked her out without her telling the remaining girls good-bye. Tierra was a total mess in the minivan Sean loaded her into, and she immediately started sobbing the infamous, “I can’t believe they did this to me,” which we have been hearing on the promos all season.
Sean went back down to the beach to tell his sister what happened.
Going into the Rose Ceremony, the girls were unsure if Sean was going to show up with Tierra. They were nothing short of elated to learn she had gone home after Sean’s moment of clarity earlier that afternoon. He went on to say that they were not going to have a cocktail party and were going straight into the Rose Ceremony, since he made up his mind. The final five ladies wondered if AshLee would be the one to go, since she had gotten into it with Tierra before she left.
Chris Harrison made his first appearance of the night to remind everyone Lindsay already had a rose, meaning one other person would get sent home just shy of taking Sean home to meet her family. Without a greeting, Sean offered roses to Desiree, Catherine, and AshLee, leaving Lesley as the one to go. Somehow, this left Catherine in a mess of tears, since she wasn’t sure why Sean kept her around instead of Lesley when she thought they had so much in common. Sean walked Lesley out, and she rode away hoping she would be able to get over the heartbreak.
