The Avon Foundation for Women: Not just a walk but a far reaching global impact

Registration has begun for the 2013 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, supporting on-going breast cancer research, as well as providing funding for screening, support and treatment for breast cancer patients that are uninsured, under-insured and in low income brackets.

Since it's inception in 2003, more that 150,000 people have either walked or volunteered in this weekend long fundraising event. This year, there are 8 United States cities participating; Houston in April, Washington DC in May, Boston in May, Chicago in June, Santa Barbara in September and New York and Charlotte in October. The link above will provide you with dates, times and all of the necessary forms to register. The walks are a worthy cause to be sure, but the Avon Foundation works tirelessly in support of other vital causes as well.

The Avon Foundation for Women created it's Speak Out Against Domestic Violence Initiative in 2004, supporting 475 global domestic violence organizations, and close to14,500 women in 20 states here at home, through awareness, educational and prevention programs under the Avon Domestic Violence Survivor Empowerment Program. Through the end of 2012, Avon's global philanthropy has raised and donated approximately $50 million through both skin product sales and special events in support of stemming the tide of domestic violence.

In their continuation of the work being done to support the health and welfare of people in need both here and abroad, The Avon Foundation has been, and is, an active participant in raising and donating funds for global relief efforts. Through the sale of their skin care products and direct donations, the Avon Foundation has provided substantial assistance to the earthquake victims in both Haiti and China's Sichuan Province, Hurricane Katrina, the Asian tsunami and families and children of September 11 survivors.

The Avon Foundation has a long, important reach with a significant global impact. Take the time to peruse their website and discover the many ways to be of help; whether walking, volunteering or donating, your active participation can touch lives for the better all over the world.
