We finally had our Taste of Flagler in Palm Coast on September 23rd and although a few restaurants got scared away by the weather (which really was scary), the event followed through on its promise of a wide selection of great food to sample. Desserts were everywhere, much to the delight of the sweet tooth of my BFF who accompanied me. The clear winner as usual was the Atlantic Grille at Hammock Beach Resort. The official awards went to:
Best Appetizer Award: Atlantic Grille for Tuna Martini with seared tuna, seaweed salad, hoisin, and pickled ginger wasabi. As soon as I saw the presentation, I had to Instagram it (photo shown).
Best Entrée Award: Atlantic Grille for Pan Seared Salmon with edamame, chick peas, corn, and bacon succotash. This was my personal favorite of the entire event - it was phenomenal.
Best Dessert Award: Atlantic Grille for pumpkin flan with whipped cream and fresh berries. My friend could not stop raving about how delicious this was.
The People’s Choice Award (Best in Show) went to The Grand Club this year, which had a nice selection of tasty dishes to sample and not surprisingly always had the longest line of people waiting to get their fix.
“The restaurants and establishments that participated in this year’s Taste of Flagler really brought on their ‘A’ game,” said Rebecca DeLorenzo, president of the Flagler County Chamber. “The food was amazing, and we appreciate that our participants didn’t let the rain get in the way of having a great evening. Congratulations to the Atlantic Grille and The Grand Club for winning these awards and thanks to everyone who made Taste of Flagler a success.”
If you have not tried the Atlantic Grille at Hammock Beach Resort yet, this should inspire you. It really is a lovely place to dine, with sweeping views of the ocean and the golf course. It has often been my go-to restaurant for special occasions (although there were a few years when a certain owner of the resort made the restaurant members-only, but that decision and many others did not pan out well for the poor gentleman).
Now it's time for me to start looking forward to next year's Taste of Flager!
