An endless and tiring soap-opera shows signs of a happier ending
As “middle-class” and poor Americans struggle every day to financially make "ends-meet", it's apparent from having conversations with the average "Joe" / "Jane" that our nation is greatly divided over who or what they should blame for their economic woes.
If you’re a connoisseur of conservative media and your money “ain’t right” you automatically blame President Obama and his liberal Democratic Party. If you’re an aficionado of liberal media and you have to work two jobs in order to live a schizophrenic paycheck-to-paycheck life, then most likely you blame the Republicans and their conservative philosophy.
Setting aside the contentious and contrasting political ideologies of “Conservative vs. Liberal”, the vast majority of these two diametrically opposed political parties both agree that the haphazardly concocted budget cuts that President Obama begrudgingly signed into law late last Friday evening, has now unceremoniously “connected them together at the hip”; as both camps brace for a slow moving storm named “Sequester”.

To the utter bewilderment of the civilized world, the United States is governed by a dysfunctional two-party political system that is akin in metaphor to a crippled ocean-liner captained by a cartoonish crew.
To his extreme political enemies President Obama is the “Moor Captain” of a hijacked ship named “America”, and in their conspiratorial mind he sails the ship in a direction that will ultimately weaken “democracy” and Anglo-Saxon male dominance.
On the flip side of a “movie” named “suspicion”, supporters of President Obama are both alarmed and on guard by the 800% spike in extremist groups that have spawned over the last four years of his administration (coincidence?) and by the unambiguous resurrection of Jim Crow voting laws in several Republican led states that clearly attempted to impede the voting rights of Black and Brown Americans during the 2012 presidential elections.

Incensed by a flurry of conservative-led legislation that appears to routinely attempt to control a woman’s body by negating the 1973 Supreme Court ruling on Roe v. Wade; while simultaneously attempting to deny the LGBT community of their right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as mandated in the American Declaration of Independence, liberals do not trust conservatives.
Remarkably there’s a televised battle being fought within the Republican Party for control of its political future. The ultra-conservative base which has been accused by the Democrats of being the “tail that wags the dog,”(The Republican Party) finds itself in a power struggle with "establishment Republicans" who appear to be all-too-weary of continuously being caricatured in the mainstream media as the party that is anti-worker, anti-immigrant and anti-women rights.
Pushback from the GOP Establishment
Following Wednesday’s conclusion of Senator Rand Paul’s nearly 13-hour filibuster of the White House’s secretive drone program, GOP senators Lindsay Graham (S.C.) and John McCain (Ariz.) took the opportunity to disparage Rand’s efforts as absurd and not helpful.
“I don’t think that what happened yesterday is helpful to the American people,” Senator McCain said after reading aloud a Wall Street Journal editorial that characterizes Senator Paul’s concerns as “ridiculous.”
“To allege that … our government would drop a drone hellfire missile on Jane Fonda,” he continued, “that brings the conversation from a serious discussion about U.S. policy to the realm of the ridiculous.”
Meanwhile, Senator Lindsay Graham stated: “This idea that we’re going to use a drone to attack a citizen in a cafe in America is ridiculous.”
The End Game
The art of successfully governing a democratic republic is centered on the ability of opposing political parties to “compromise” for the betterment of the republic. History proves without compromise a nation will eventually implode, leaving it vulnerable to collapse. On Wednesday night President Obama dined at a posh Washington restaurant with twelve Republican senators in an attempt to reach out and find political middle-ground. Some say “it’s about time” while others say, “another valiant attempt by Obama”.

Whether or not the "GOP establishment" is purposely softening its public image for the upcoming 2014 senatorial races in hope of winning six more seats and taking control of the U.S. senate or whether or not President Obama is reaching out to GOP senators in order to find a presidential solution to ending the sequester and stop his own hemorrhaging approval rate in the polls of public opinion, the important / phenomenal event is that they’re talking and listening to each other, and in the end it may just be the art of compromise that prevents the U.S. government from self-destructing.

And is the "GOP establishment" attempting to wrestle back control of its political destiny from their more radical Tea Party base in hope of improving its public image and ultimately winning six more senatorial seats in 2014, thus putting the Grand Old Party in control of both the senate and the congress; ushering in an era of almost total dominance of the U.S. government?
