The Art Institute of Atlanta – Decatur is a conurbation of everything fashion and entertainment instruction and facilitation of community events. Students of the Art Institute of Atlanta have the opportunity to learn skill sets in the areas of design, media arts, fashion and culinary arts.
Dr. Courtney A. Hammonds is the program coordinator of the Art Institution of Atlanta - Decatur Fashion Retail & Management Department. As program coordinator, Dr. Hammonds works with faculty, and others, at the program level to provide students with a high quality educational experience and a high level of student support and service. He is also the lead professor. His task to bear is to bear as lead professor is to develop strategic partnerships with industry professionals, secure internships for upper level FRM students, develop hands-on experiences for students, and bridge the gap between ideas to reality.
As a culmination of course studies, the Fashion Show Production Class of fashion students puts on a semi-annual fashion show. The latest of which was the Shades of Seduction, held on February 26, 2013.
The venue, Velvet Underground at the Hard Rock Café in Atlanta, Ga., and the presentation, hosted by Dr. Courtney A. Hammonds, were very pleasing to the eye. The execution, facilitated by the students of the Art Institute of Atlanta – Decatur, was inviting.
The fashion show was presented in a manner in which encouraged a desire for one to become involved with the Art Institute of Atlanta - Decatur, as a student, volunteer and/or business affiliate.
Myriam, of Belasse, & Nicci, of Nicci Hou Collection, were both great choices that compliment each other while presenting very clear definition of designer identity.
Rose petals on the runway were the perfect compliment to the sophisticated styles that were presented in the Belasse & Nicchi Hou Collection garments.
Myriam Belasse, a native of Oistins, Christ Church, Barbados and founder of the Belasse Collection, presented resort wear chic styles that could easily be accessorized into evening wear. The garments were nice and airy, as if an ode to her homeland.
Nicole Houston, aka Nicci Hou, was raised a “military dependent” that grew up traveling and in the mist of seamstresses and designers. She created Nicci Hou Collection in 2007, which was inspired by high fashion photography. Her presentation also reflected the inspiration and consisted of couture styles that were simply haute! … including elegant “in-trend” ruffles on sleeves, necklines, and hems.
Both Myriam Belasse and Nicci Hou donated their services to this event and in turn shared their invaluable expertise with the students who are emerging into the fashion and entertainment industry.
The fashion show was put on in totality by the Fashion Show Production Class, under the supervision and consult of Dr. Hammonds.
