It is my personal opinion, as my readers know by now that the two primary political parties in the United States today are virtually the same beast. While their social agendas may seem differently the result is usually the same, larger government, less individual rights, more control in the hands of crotchety old people that outlived their usefulness to the people in their third and fourth terms.
In many cases, these gems of humanity are rarely more than a common criminal, the major differences being connections, money, and power. We have had pedophiles, rapists, murderers, drunks, drug abusers, and more in control of and at the very helm of this nation in the last 30 years or so, and in every instance when these criminals were outed one of two things occurred. They resigned their office or denied the truth. In almost all of the cases, none of them was found guilty of any actual crime. In every case, the reason for the “outing” of the issue was purely political and gave the party opposite to them more power. Recently some of the older politicians have begun dying (which seems to be the only way they will ever leave office) and in the national media, we are “lionizing” these men, giving them grandiose names and titles, stating their multiple accomplishments and ignoring their multiple failures. If you want names and dates, lets start small and work our way up- Mark Foley, Charlie Rangel, Bill Clinton, Edward Kennedy, Timothy Geithner need I continue with the names?
Of course midterm elections are coming up once again for many states, here in Arizona people are trying to get lined up and in some cases are scrambling to gather a voter base as many of us have become tired of sitting and doing nothing. While we look at the candidates we are seeing frightening similarities, John McCain loves the press, and fudges the facts. Chris Simcox refuses interviews except with national media (is not the job of a state senator to directly assist the STATE they are from?) and has a lurid past. The one shining star in this rat race of political intrigue so far on the Republican side is Jim Deakin. He has repeatedly made it clear he is available to the people, and wants to regularly speak with and help this state.
As a Libertarian I can honestly say that Jim Deakin is someone who can and will help this state, the one major drawback is notoriety, and his lack of bad press. Everyone has heard of John McCain, the person wont stop whining and complaining and than dropping the ball, he just loves major corporate contributions and tends to gather millions through second and third party interests from various corporate interests. Chris Simcox is a glory hound with no integrity and little ability to do more than waste money. He is regularly in the press (and all one has to do is a little search occasionally) to find more about him. His ex WIVES hate his guts, his kids have accused him of molestation, and he has been involved in several lurid scandals throughout the years, from money laundering to murder. Chris Simcox is someone who is unable to tell the truth and does not have the integrity of a snake.
So if one is a Libertarian, Independent, or a Republican who would one vote for, I mean by now it should be obvious we all need to vote right. This coming year in Arizona, we need to remember what it will take to guarantee that our children have a future, (or we can turtle up and cry about the end of the world coming…)
If you are not a Republican re-register as one just until the primaries are over so that you can contribute to the GOOD of the whole by voting for a man who wants to help this state and has the integrity, morals and ethics necessary to push for positive reform.
