Get your game face on and suit up because football’s coming back! In Phoenix, that means that Arizona Cardinals fans are ready to experience home games at the state-of-the-art University of Phoenix Stadium.
To whet your appetite, start off with a preseason game on Saturday, August 9 to watch the matchup of the Arizona Cardinals against the Houston Texans. Already, they’re claiming seats are limited for this inaugural game. Check their schedule for other games to attend.
If you can’t get a ticket or just love starting your celebration early, check out the The Great Lawn outside the stadium. An eight-acre expanse of grass surrounded by sycamore trees, the Great Lawn extends west from 95th Avenue to the Loop 101. The lawn stretches over 1,000 feet and is designed for use by fans while tailgating at games or to use during other activities outside the stadium. Each week during the regular season a local band is featured on the Lawn Stage.
The Cardinals and MidFirst Bank will award one lucky tailgate fan each week the MidFirst Bank Tailgater of the Game. This prestigious award is presented to fans that display the best tailgate area based on food, decorations and team spirit. If your ribs are just right, you might just be selected as “Tailgater of the Year.”
The Westgate Entertainment District, within walking distance of the stadium, will host a Cardinals fan-friendly, pre-game party before every home game starting Sept. 15 at Westgate's WaterDance Plaza, adjacent to the Bellagio-esque dancing fountains. The pre-game festivities will begin three hours before kick-off and will include live music, free Cardinals Cheerleaders autograph sessions, Cardinals-themed inflatables, photo boards and an outdoor beer garden.
The Arizona Cardinals Flight Deck is located on the north plaza of University of Phoenix Stadium and opens at 10:45am. Open to fans with a game ticket, The Flight Deck features autographs by the Cardinals Cheerleaders, interactive displays by Valley Chevy Dealers, a Kids Combine, a Plaza Lounge (shaded structure providing seating, cooling towers and an LED video wall for enjoying early NFL games) and other fan-friendly and interactive experiences. The Cardinals will also provide food and beverage options for fans to enjoy and take into the stadium.
