The ARC urges support as VA General Assembly winds down

The Virginia Legislative Session is scheduled to end this Saturday, February 23, 2013 and with this will be the finalization of the states' budget.

The Arc of Northern Virginia is calling on all advocates for people with disabilities and their familes to call their legislators in the Virginia General Assembly to ensure that these families are well supported.

Among the issues that are before the Assembly are the 200 ID and 50 DD Waivers in the budget. The Arc wants the Assembly to delay putting ID and DD waivers under managed care; to wait until the Waiver Reform project is complete to prevent delays in critical services. They also want state senators and delegates to support measures to transition people out of training center and to serve all people with disabilities in their community.
