Denver area geeks have some winter fun to look forward to this January. The Denver Museum of Nature and Science is kicking off the New Year right with their adult learning program theme called “Apocalyptic.” This is not the tedious high school science teacher trying hard to make science fun. Combined with cocktails, snacks, and fabulous company, The Science Lounge learning is most definitely fun. Experts will take a look at how would life on Earth would respond to a zombie virus, mass extinction by asteroid, or the collapse of a civilization. Explore how life on Earth could end or even become a whole new world. Apocalyptic themes are always a hit with geeks and this event will be no exception. In between presentations and socializing, guests have the chance to soak up the Downtown Denver skyline from the Anschutz Family Sky Terrace.
Thursday, Jan 16 the night will kick off the entertainment starting a 6:30pm for a nice price of only $12 for museum non-members and $10 for members. Ticket are sold at the door but are often sold out by start time. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time on their website.
In addition to The Science Lounge, be sure to catch the last week of MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition through Jan 5. The museum’s “MythBusting” facilitators will use props and gadgets from the actual TV show. Visitors will become their own MythBuster and have the chance to test theories and play with hands-on experiments and see live MythBusting demonstrations.
