The Anti-Cruelty Society’s 16th annual 5K/3.2 mile Bark in the Park walk is coming at 9 a.m. on Sat., May 1, 2010. Dog or no dog, anybody can participate in this fundraiser to raise funds and awareness against animal cruelty by walking in Lincoln Park at the Montrose Harbor, 4400 N. Lake Shore Dr.
For prize pledges ranging from $50 to $1000 and over, winners will receive one of the following—a Bark drawstring pack, a Bark logo sweatshirt, a Bark blanket, a fleece
Bark in the Park jacket or a Lettuce Entertain You $100 gift card.
The goal is for each participant to raise at least $196, which pays for the first week’s shelter care for one dog and one cat. Registration is $25 per adult and $20 for child, which includes your participation T-shirt. Each participant can set up her own
fundraising page, too.
Participants are allowed to bring one dog each, but aggressive dogs and
dogs in heat are not allowed into the Bark in the Park event. All dogs must have current rabies shots, accurate dog tags and be on leashes at all times.
The Anti-Cruelty Society was established in 1899, and it has found homes for over 40,000 pets, spayed and neutered more than 61,000 animals, and reached out to over 225,000 children about animal care and safety.
The Anti-Cruelty Society is located at 157 W. Grand Ave., for those interested in adopting a pet. Hours of operation are 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
