The Annual Rendezvous at the Straits Powwow begins Friday, August 23 at noon and continues through Sunday, August 25. The event is located at the Father Marquette National Memorial near the Mackinac Bridge View Park.
Featured events include flute music, hoop dancing, food, art and crafts. The Host Drum is Sturgeon Bay with Co-host Wolf Wind.
The Blessing of the Grounds takes place at noon Friday, followed by the Parade of Nations at 7 p.m. The Grand Entry is scheduled for noon on Saturday and Sunday.
Area entertainment includes fireworks at 10 p.m. Saturday and free Movies by the Bay on Sunday night in downtown St. Ignace.
The event is sponsored by the St. Ignace Events Committee, the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, the Michilimackinac Historical Society and Kewadin Casinos.
Admission is $4 daily, $5 for the whole weekend. Elders receive $1 off the price of admission and children 5 and under are admitted
