The 56th Annual Garden Grove Strawberry Festival will be held this year May 23 – 26. Over the years this festival has grown to the present size, featuring a variety of booths, Carnival rides, stage shows with both celebrity and local performers, a parade and the largest strawberry shortcake, all taking place on the Village Green at Main & Acacia Streets, and open to the public with free admission.
The event that started in 1958 will continue the tradition of treating the community to free Strawberry Shortcake on opening night, and this year the tradition continues on Friday evening with the cake cutting ceremony starting at 6 p.m.
As in past years, on Saturday at 10 a.m. there will be a Parade with marching bands, floats, equestrians, a Grand Marshal, Miss Garden Grove and her court, Miss Outstanding Teen and her Court, a Senior King and Queen, and a Tiny Tots King and Queen, all riding on floats. Visit here for a schedule of events for this year.
Rides are usually the highlight of any event and the festival this year has rides for all ages, for kids 8 years and older as well as the younger ones. Wristbands can be purchased for Friday giving unlimited rides all day for $25; Saturday to Monday $30; or one can buy the individual ride tickets at $1 per ticket.
Rounding out the event there will be Vendor booths, Charity food and game booths, Showmobile and Amphitheater Performances to educate and entertain.
