The Animal Welfare League (AWL) is Chicagoland’s largest humane society. They have been servicing those in and around the city for 75 years. They have two locations:
1. 10305 Southwest Highway in Chicago Ridge and
2. 6224 South Wabash in Chicago (this is actually an intake facility only; no adoptions take place at this location)
AWL has made it their purpose to accomplish the following things:
· Prevent cruelty to animals
· Provide quality homes for animals through their adoption program
· Promote respect and compassion for all creature through education
· Provide shelter and care for homeless and unwanted animals
· Reduce pet overpopulation through our low cost spay and neuter clinic
· Provide veterinary care for low income pet owners
· Relieve the suffering of all animals
To go right along with their goals, the Animal Welfare League is offering a Winter Shot Special for only $40. The special for canines includes DHPP or DHLPP, a one-year rabies vaccination and tag and all bio-hazard fees. You don’t need to make an appointment, just show up but you cannot use any other discounts with the special. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Everyone utilizing this service must check in at least one hour before the clinic closes. This offer is good through the month of January, 2013.
In addition, AWL is offering a general dentistry for only $55 (a savings of $70 or greater). For this service you will have to make an appointment and make certain that your dog is up-to-date on all of its vaccinations. Qualifying canines must be at least five-years-old; other requirements may apply.
There have been two adoption events scheduled for this month:
1. Saturday, January, 19th at the PetSmart in Burbank; 7730 South Cicero Avenue, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. All pets up for adoption will have been spayed or neutered, received their rabies vaccine, any applicable booster vaccines and will have been microchipped. Wish Lists for AWL will be available.
2. Saturday, January, 26th at the PetSmart in Crestwood; 4975 Cal Sag Road, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. All pets up for adoption will have been spayed or neutered, received their rabies vaccine, any applicable booster vaccines and will have been microchipped. Wish Lists for AWL will be available.
