Round 1 of the 2014 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series takes place next weekend in Bunnell.

The fastest off-road racers in the country are set to kick off the 2014 GNCC season in the grueling sands of Florida for a three-hour test of speed, skill and endurance during the Moose Racing Mud Mucker GNCC on Sunday, March 9 at 1:00 p.m. The event, which takes place about 25 minutes own the road from the Daytona International Speedway at 2008 E. County Road 90 in Bunnell, will showcase the true warriors and produce some of the most exciting racing action of the season as they maneuver their bikes over the whooped out sandy terrain.

Factory FMF/KTM's Kailub Russell enters the 2014 season with the coveted #1 plate, joined by several past GNCC champions: AmPro Yamaha's Paul Whibley (2012/2009), Factory FMF/KTM's Charlie Mullins (2011), Rocky Mountain ATV*MC/AmPro Yamaha's Josh Strang (2010) and the surprise return of 2000 GNCC champion Shane Watts of the Maxxis/KLIM/DirtWise KTM team.

Johnny Campbell Racing (JCR) Honda makes its east coast debut with #3 Chris Bach under the tent, while 2008 XC2 Pro Lites champion Thad DuVall returns to contend the championship aboard his all-new team.

Other notable contenders include AmPro Yamaha's Jordan Ashburn and Factory Husqvarna's Andrew DeLong, who will make his XC1 Pro debut this season and will be joined by Husky teammate Mike Brown at Round 1. Additionally, longtime professional Motocross/Supercross star Ryan Sipes will make his official off-road debut this season aboard a Rockstar Energy Racing/WMR Off-Road-backed KTM in the XC1 Pro class.

Admission can be purchased at the event and is good for the entire weekend. A weekend pit pass runs $20 for adults, while kids 6-11 are only $10. Children 5 and under are admitted free. Any Supercross Season Credential holder may present their hard card at the front gate for FREE entry to Round 1 of GNCC.

For those of us who may not be able to attend the event in person, the Pro race will be broadcast live on, beginning at 1 p.m. Eastern. For more information, visit the series website.
