This Labor Day weekend at the box office was a good one for George Clooney. His latest movie, "The American" went neck and neck with the Robert Rodriquez directed "Machete" to win the No. 1 spot according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"The American" took in an estimated $12.9 million, while last week's box office champ, "Takers" finished at No. 2 with $11.4 million.
"Machete," which had been reported as leading the box office on Friday dropped to No.3 earning a little over $11.3 million.
Finishing out the top five were "Last Exorcism," with $7.5 million and $32.3 total to date and Drew Barrymore's "Going the Distance," which made $6.9 million.
