Following the late-night arrival of the latest trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man, we immediately began to deconstruct every shot that we could see. For the most part, we were just hunting for good screen shots to post and, perhaps, catch a piece of the on-screen action that wasn’t explicitly being shown. Alas, we captured our screen shots and went off the bed.
Naturally, we didn’t have a sharp enough eye at 4am to catch the following. The folks over at Collider have spotted a hidden message at the 2:28 mark of the trailer. This is a frame that doesn’t contain any footage from the movie, but does reveal a clue about the next stage of the viral marketing campaign for the film.
As you can barely make out in the image here, the curious phrase, “MARK OF THE SPIDER-MAN’ appears in the lower left hand corner of the trailer and should you visit “markofthespider-man.com“, you’ll be greeted with the following screen.
Stay tuned as more clues are revealed for the next stage of The Amazing Spider-Man viral marketing campaign.
Directed by Marc Webb, The Amazing Spider-Man arrives in 2D and 3D theaters on July 3, 2012 and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen and Sally Field.
