The first full length trailer for Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has finally been released.
The trailer, released early Thursday, Dec. 5, is filled with a lot of exciting action, and a little bit of romance for our friendly neighborhood hero Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield).
Plenty of new villains are introduced such as an armored Rhino (Paul Giamatti), Electro (Jamie Foxx), and Peter’s childhood friend Harry Osborn (Dane Dehaan). There are also blink-and-you’ll-miss moments which include a dying Norman Osborn played by Chris Cooper, and someone suited up in a militaristic Goblin suit.
The trailer begins with a voiceover from Peter explaining that, “Every day I wake up knowing that the more people I try to save, the more enemies I will make, it’s just a matter of time until I face those with more power than I can overcome.”
He then discovers the secrets behind a video his father Richard Parker left behind before his disappearance, saying that he discovered what OsCorp was planning to do with his research.
Ending the clip is a series of shots of a perilous electric battle between Spider-Man and Electro.
Sony released an official synopsis of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Wednesday, before its trailer debut:
We've always known that Spider-Man's most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2™, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.
It's great to be Spider-Man (Garfield). For Peter Parker, there's no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.
Directed by Marc Webb, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is based on the Marvel comic book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, and is written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinker.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens everywhere May 2, 2014.
