“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” is currently shooting on location in the Big Apple. On Location Vacations reports that the Aracnisequel shot a stunt sequence outside Eisenberg’s Sandwich Shop at 22nd Street and 5th Avenue in Manhattan this morning, dropping a dangling car upside down onto a parked cab. Click the lower box on the left to see video of the stunt.
Eisenberg’s, an actual sandwich shop, is reportedly where where Mary Jane Watson, played by Shailene Woodley, works. A Flatiron District fixture, Eisenberg’s proudly advertises that it’s been “Raising New York’s cholesterol since 1929.”
There have been numerous sightings of stars Andrew Garfield (Peter Parker/Spider-Man), Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy) and Woodley over the past couple of days, who have been graciously posing for pictures with excited fans.
The most recent casting for the movie has been Chris Cooper, who will play Norman Osborn in the movie. (Osborn was hinted at in “The Amazing Spider-Man,” but didn’t appear on camera.) Note that it’s only confirmed that Cooper is playing Osborn, not The Green Goblin. (Willen Dafoe played both in Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man.”) By contrast, Jamie Foxx is billed on IMDb as “Matt Dillon/Electro,” and Paul Giamatti is billed as “Aleksei Sytsevich/The Rhino.” This wouldn’t rule out The Green Goblin as a villain in a future installment, of course. Dane DeHaan is playing Harry Osborn, played by James Franco in the Sam Raimi movies.
Location shooting is expected to continue in New York City throughout the week, at least. The crew reportedly will be filming in Queens tomorrow, and Brooklyn later in the week.
