'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' plot revealed

Thanks to Collider yesterday, via a press release, we now have a lot more information about “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” which just recently began production in New York.

Originally it had been rumored that Paul Giamatti (“Sideways”) would be in the film as the villain Rhino, but now it has been confirmed that he will at least be in the film.

Colm Feore (“The Chronicles of Riddick”) has also joined the cast, but neither actors’ roles have been revealed (speculation has Feore playing Norman Osborn).

The plot is as follows: In The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

This confirms the theory that the first three “Amazing Spider-Man” movies would all be, in some way, an origin story as to how Spider-Man came to be, and the involvement his parents had in it.

The film will be released in 3D on May 2, 2014.
