"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" has begun shooting in New York and in the last few days, ComingSoon.net has released the first photo of Spider-Man's new costume. The photo reveals much bigger eye pockets and more intricate detailing around the upper torso of the costume. It resembles the costume fans are most familiar with.
Yesterday, ComingSoon.net (via MovieClips.com) also revealed a first look at Mary-Jane Watson, who is the most famous of Peter Parker's love interests. There is no news yet about how involved she will be in the story because Parker will still be seeing Gwen Stacy from the first "The Amazing Spider-Man".
The synopsis (unofficial and due to change): Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) finds life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can't come quickly enough. Peter hasn't forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen's father to protect her by staying away – but that's a promise he just can't keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.
The movie also features returning cast members Sally Field as Aunt May and Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben. Other cast members include Shailene Woodley, Paul Giammatti, Felicity Jones and Colm Feore.
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is set to be released on May 2, 2014.
