'The Amazing Spider-Man 2': Emma Stone talks Gwen Stacy and filming

Filming for "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is officially underway in New York City. On Saturday, March 2 Comingsoon.net reported that Emma Stone was photographed filming scenes with Andrew Garfield in Chinatown. Stone returned for the role of Gwen Stacy and Garfield returned as Peter Parker for the sequel which is scheduled for a summer 2014 release.

Stone also gave an interview with Cineplex Magazine recently where she spoke about working with the rest of the cast and how good the script is. Stone calls the script "very, very good" and is excited to film scenes. Of the additional cast, Stone said, "They just cast Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn who is such a great actor. And Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane, who's also wonderful." This will be the first "Spider-Man" movie in which both Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane Watson appear.

Stacy and Parker's relationship was strained at the end of the first film, after Gwen's father made Peter promise to stay away from her. Stone mentions Stacy as a "heroic" character after helping the masked vigilante stop Dr. Connors from mutating New York City in "The Amazing Spider-Man."

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is directed by Marc Webb and has a theatrical release date of May 2, 2014. The sequel has Spider-Man face a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), as well as his best friend Harry Osborn. Additional cast members includes Sally Field and Paul Giamatti.
