The 22nd season of "The Amazing Race" will premiere on Feb. 17, 2013. There are 11 teams racing this season. A new twist at the beginning of the race could create alliances and enemies right away. Cast photos and details about the teams were posted by CBS on Jan. 25, 2013.
This year, the teams range from twin doctors to country singers. The teams will, according to CBS, “skydive from 10,000 feet in Bora Bora, participate in a Shemozzle race in New Zealand, hunt for scorpions with the Bushmen of Botswana and scale the treacherous north face of the Eiger Mountain in Switzerland.”
This season will have a new twist. The first team to check-in after the first leg of the race will be rewarded with two express passes. The pass permits the team to skip one of the required tasks of their choosing. The second pass must be given away to another team before the end of the fourth leg of the race. Idries and Jamil Abdur-Rahman are twin brothers from Chicago, Ill. Both men are OB/GYN doctors.
Max and Katie Bichler are newlyweds from Buffalo, N.Y.
Mona Egender and Beth Bandimere are mothers from Colorado. They are also roller derby teammates.
Bates and Anthony Battaglia are brothers from Raleigh, N.C. The brothers are professional hockey players.
Chuck and Wynona McCall are a married couple from Daphne, Ala. Chuck is a taxidermist and his wife is a hairstylist.
David and Connor O’Leary are a father and son team from Salt Lake City. Both are cancer survivors.
Caroline Cutbirth and Jennifer Kuhle are friends and country singers in a band. Caroline is a direct descendant of Daniel Boone and Jennifer is the granddaughter of John Wayne.
Joey Graceffa and Meghan Camarena are friends from Los Angeles. They list their occupation as YouTube hosts.
Pamela Chien and Winnie Sung are best friends from Los Angeles.
Jessica Hoel and John Erck are a dating couple from Huntington Beach, Calif.
Matthew Davis and Daniel Moss are firefighters from Gaffney, S.C.
"The Amazing Race" premieres Sunday, February 17, 2012, on CBS channel WTEV 47 in Jacksonville.
