On April 24th, 2014 Ingrid Michaelson will be making a stop in Chicago at the Riviera with supporting act The Alternate Routes. The Alternate Routes is an American rock band out of Bridgeport, Connecticut formed by Tim Warren and Eric Donnelly in 2002.
Perhaps best known for their most recent single and personal anthem “Nothing More”. The track was written at the request of a Connecticut organization called Newtown Kindness. The organization was founded in the memory of Charlotte Bacon, who lost her life in the elementary school tragedy in Sandyhook, Connecticut.
“Nothing More” has been featured on the season finale of NCIS, and was chosen by NBC Television to close the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Sochi Russia. Nearly 100 charitable organizations recognizing goodwill, generosity and kindness throughout the world have used the track as well. The Alternate Routes are donating a portion of the proceeds from “Nothing More” to support Newtown Kindness in their efforts to recognize, reward and inspire acts of kindness.
Taking pride in their unique sound and versatility, The Alternate Routes are equally comfortable getting loud as a six piece in a rock club, or stripping things down as an acoustic duo for theaters and intimate venues. “I think that is our best quality. Some say it is our biggest weakness, but I think we genuinely enjoy all of those situations, so that is what we write,” says Donnelly. While on tour with Ingrid Michaelson they will be performing as a duo.
