The Allman Brothers Band has revealed today that its 45 years of touring will come to an end late October. The band, having recently postponed four shows in March at New York City’s legendary Beacon Theatre (Gregg Allman was sick with a case of bronchitis), has rescheduled those dates at the Beacon and added two more for October 27 and October 28.
According to a press release, tickets for the original shows on March 25, 26, 28 and 29 will be honored October 21, 22, 24 or 25, respectively. If unable to attend in October, a full refund will be granted before August 1. Ticket information for October 27 and October 28 has not yet been announced. Incredibly, the band has played 232 times at the Beacon since 1989.
Earlier this year, long-time guitarists Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks announced that they would be leaving the band at the end of 2014 to concentrate on family and solo projects. Gregg Allman later told Relix in March that this will be the end for the band, before contradicting himself in May, when he told radio.com that Derek Trucks will be replaced and that the band ending after 2014 is “just a rumor.”
The Allman Brothers current line-up consists of founding members Allman (keyboards, vocals), Butch Trucks (drums) and Jaimoe (drums) along with Haynes (vocals, guitar), Trucks (guitar) Oteil Brubridge (bass) and Marc Quinoes (percussion). Even if the band continues after 2014, this will be the last chance to see its current line-up live, who have been touring together for the past 14 years and have become the longest version of the band.
Before their run of shows at the Beacon Theatre in October, the band will take the stage June 8 at the Mountain Jam in Hunter Mountain, NY, August 14-17 at the band’s annual Peach Fest and September 7 at the Lockn’ Music Fest in Arrington, VA.
