Okay, okay, you've caught me...I've been holding out and I'm not sorry. I've finally found my living-room, my home away from home where I can relax, enjoy comfort food and drink amazing beer that someone kindly pours for me. I've been praying to the beer gods for a place like The Alberta Street Pub to open up in my neighborhood for about seven years. My prayers and patience have finally paid off.
Are you a neighborhood person looking to drink some amazing beer in a clean, beautiful pub with great food that's affordable, friendly service and a fantastic happy hour? Then this might be your new home away from home too.
If you've lived in the area for awhile, you might be wondering what the hell I'm talking about. "Alberta Pub, good food, friendly service, clean...what?!" Let me catch you up, reimagined with new interior, new menu and clean bathrooms. This pub has grown up and cleaned up it's act, gone are the smoke-stained walls and shots of Jaeger. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the dark, greasy, punk-rock days of old, but it's just time to move on.
The Alberta Street Pub is a place you can bring just about anyone and they'll be able to find something they love, whether they drink cocktails, wine or beer. I've been enjoying the happy hour which runs from 3-6 every day of the week. I recommend trying their toasted cheese, (melty and delicious) with a stout to fortify against a cold day.
In addition to being a comfy place to eat and drink, The Alberta Street Pub continues its long-standing tradition of providing an intimate setting to hear live music. Cleverly designed to accommodate two very different venues in one small place, The Alberta Street Pub offers some of the best live music sound anywhere. If you've never seen a show here, you've been missing out.
My new favorite bartender in Portland, Jimmy, makes a trip to The Alberta Public House a real treat. It's wonderful to have a pub with such incredibly kind and knowledgable staff. The beer menu is ever-changing and eclectic. Jimmy is always happy to spend a little time with you and find out what "beer" mood you might be in. It's a blast to go to The Alberta Street Pub and discover new beer.
Alright, I've come clean. Now do me a favor and don't tell the hipsters.
