After the success of Marvel’s Phase One set of films leading up to the blockbuster Avengers everything changed for the superhero genre. Marvel created a universe like had never been done before and with the announcement of their Phase Two plan to lead towards Avengers 2 showed no signs of slowing down. What fans didn’t expect at the time was the left hand turn to bring the universe to the small screen.
Joss Whedon already has a history with some great genre television so in reality it came as no surprise for him to bring this medium into the mix, but rarely to TV shows connect directly like Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D does. The series follows the once thought dead Agent Phil Coulson puts together a small team of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents to handle strange new cases. Each case will test the team in cooperation and ingenuity as they try to work together figuring out newly emerging superhuman individuals in the world.
The series not only features the return of fan favorite Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson, but also Ming-Na Wen, Brett Dalton, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge in addition to appearances by J. August Richards, David Conrad, Ruth Negga, Ian Hart, Ron Glass, and Cobie Smulders reprising her role as Maria Hill.
Could this be the next level of Marvel domination? Only time will tell, but be sure to join the mission when Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D premieres on September 24th on ABC.
