Now through October 25, dinner for two is on the Mercury Theater Chicago at Cullen’s Irish Pub, adjacent to the theater on 3745 N Southport Avenue, with the purchase of two tickets to the Broadway musical The Color Purple. Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Alice Walker and adapted for the stage by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winner Marsha Norman, with music and lyrics by Grammy Award-winners Brenda Russell, Allee Willis, and Stephen Bray, The Color Purple features the Grammy®-nominated score that incorporates gospel, jazz, pop and the blues.
Starring Trisha Jeffrey, Jasondra Johnson and Adrienne Walker, the production showcases the work of multiple Jeff Award winners L. Walter Stearns (director), Eugene Dizon (musical director) and Brenda Didier (choreographer). Keithon Gipson, Evan Tyrone Martin, Carrie Louise Abernathy, Brittany Bradshaw, Sydney Charles, Aaron Holland, Donterrio Johnson, Donica Lynn, Travis Porchia, Ninah Snipes and Crystal Corinne Wood round out the cast.
