Directed by Jonathan Newman, the film stars Michael Sheen (Frost/Nixon, Dr. Who), Lena Headey (Game of Thrones, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), Sam Neill (Jurassic Park, Under the Mountain), Ioan Gruffudd (Amazing Grace, Fantastic Four), and Aneurin Barnard (Citadel, The White Queen). It also stars Keeley Hawes (Upstairs, Downstairs) Xavier Atkins (Snow White and the Huntsman).

About the Movie

Set in 1885, The Adventurer: The Curse of the Midas Box is the story of 15 year old Mariah Mundi (Aneurin Barnard) whose world is torn apart when his parents (Ioan Guffudd and Keeley Hawes) suddenly disappear, leaving him to fend for himself and his brother Felix (Xavier Atkins). When unknown assailants kidnap his younger sibling, he's left with no choice but to unite with the strange adventurer Captain Will Charity (Michael Sheen) and take off in pursuit. The trail leads them away from the smog of Victorian London to the mysterious Prince Regent, a majestic hotel, owned by the evil Otto Luger (Sam Neill) and managed by the beautiful Monica (Lean Headey) who are willing to eliminate anyone who gets in their way. Mariah and Will soon find themselves battling a sinister underworld filled with villains, child-catching creatures, deadly secrets and a long-lost artifact that grants limitless wealth – but also devastating supernatural power. With the fate of his world, and his family at stake, Mariah will risk everything to unravel the Curse of the Midas Box.

G.P. Taylor is known for writing deeply allegorical stories comparable to C.S. Lewis. Besides Mariah Mundi and the Midas Box, Taylor is the author of the best-selling novels Shadowmancer, Wormwood and Tersias. Before taking up writing full-time, he was a police officer, motorcyclist and former rock band roadie turned Anglican vicar in the village of Cloughton, North Yorkshire. After his debut [and self-published] novel Shadowmancer attracted a large following, Taylor was approached by Faber and Faber in the UK and G. P. Putnam's Sons in the United States for a six book publishing deal. Although several of his books have attracted interest from movie makers, Mariah Mundi and the Midas Box is the first to have made it to the silver screen.

Running 98 minutes, The Adventurer: The Curse of the Midas Box is Rated PG for adventure action and violence, some peril and brief smoking.
