On Aug. 16, 2013, the 86th Midwest Amateur Golf Tournament began at Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course. On that date were the practice rounds. (Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course is at 3600 N. Recreation Drive in Chicago, Ill.)
This tournament consists of two rounds on Aug. 17 and Aug. 18. Both rounds are in stroke play format. Each round is 18 holes. Therefore, since Marovitz is a nine holes course, each contestant will need to play two rounds each day.
This tournament is open to all golfers who have valid, CDGA/USGA handicaps. The public entry fee was $155/player. For golfers with Chicago Park District’s Player’s Advantage Card, the entry fee was $145/player. Contestants paid their fees with cash, check, Visa or MasterCard.
Sydney R. Marovitz has men’s teeing grounds, which are the blue, teeing ground markers, and women’s teeing grounds, which are the red, teeing ground markers. The course rating/slope for men is 35.2/124. The course rating/slope for women is 35.7/125.
This course has two, par 5 holes—the second and the fifth. There are two, par three holes—the third and the sixth. The remaining holes are par four holes. The longest hole is the fifth—515 yards. The shortest hole is the sixth—140 yards. The longest, par four hole is the fourth—434 yards.
Lake Michigan is on this golf course’s, eastern side. Recreation Drive makes up its southern border. North Lake Shore Drive is to the west (within 200 feet at the golf course’s, northern end). Irving Park Avenue is its northern boundary.
