The 71st Annual Golden Globe Nominations

See also

The Golden Globe nominations were just announced minutes ago, bringing with them a few surprises, including the unexpected appearance of both Stephen Frears' "Philomena" and Ron Howard's "Rush" in the Best Picture, Drama category.

However, surprises were not limited to the top categories. Just a day after being snubbed by the Screen Actors Guild for his outstanding performance in "Saving Mr. Banks," Tom Hanks has once again been left out of the Supporting Actor category, instead being nominated in Best Actor for his so-so performance in "Captain Phillips." Octavia Spencer has also once again been snubbed for her excellent performance in "Fruitvale Station." Another interesting turn of events includes the complete absence of "Lee Daniels' The Butler," just a day after it made a great showing with the Screen Actors Guild.

In just one month, we'll be able to find out who the winners are when the 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards are broadcast live on January 12 at 8pm.
