Long Island Disney fans will soon be able to get their Disney fix without having to travel to Florida or California. D23's Disney Fanniversary Celebration kicks off its annual tour next month, hitting cities all across the country like Newark and Boston in an effort to bring the magic of Disney to the fans.
Unlike the D23 Expo, which is always held in Anaheim, Calif., this event travels to different cities to allow more Disney fans to come together, discover what's new, and have a vacation-like experience close to home, and all at the fraction of the cost of a trip to either Disney park.
This year marks the 5th anniversary of this event and is sure to highlight other anniversaries as well. According to D23's website, this year's Fanniversary will showcase "Peter Pan," "Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas," "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," and the first "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie. Attractions like Mickey's Toontown, Horizons, and Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room will also be featured. Disney archivists and D23 Team Members will reveal behind-the-scenes information, stories, never-before-seen footage, interviews, concept art, and more. Some of the video clips shown at these events are only shown at the Fanniversary Celebration events.
This year also proves to be a momentous occasion as 2013 marks milestones for Disney's Animal Kingdom, Tokyo Disneyland, the start of the Disney Channel, the first launch of a Disney Cruise Line ship, and the 1923 founding of the Walt Disney Company. No details have been released for what exactly will be done to celebrate such amazing milestones, but that's part of the excitement of attending a Fanniversary event.
