The 56th Annual Grammy Awards nominees

See also

It's Grammy season, which means that it's time once again to largely ignore the world of music in favor of handing shiny awards to polished celebrity artists.

Although the 56th Annual Grammy Awards don't air or even occur until next month, the full list of nominations have been revealed.

While it's mostly all predictable pop acts along the lines of Robin Thicke and Taylor Swift, a few underdogs managed to sneak their way onto to list.

The National, Vampire Weekend, and Tame Impala for example, have been pitted against each other, nominated for the ambiguous category of "Best Alternative Music Album." Likewise, Jack White has been nominated for "Best Rock Performance," for his track, "I'm Shakin,'" although he's pitted against the colossal chart-topper "Radioactive," by Imagine Dragons. Most surprisingly though, James Blake managed to sneak onto the "Best New Artist" list.

Peruse the official list of nominees on the Grammy website and lament the fact that none of your favorite bands made the cut, and, at the very least, hope for a Lorde and Imagine Dragons blowout.
