The 50 Grammy Performances You Need to Watch, Day Two

This next group of performances features incredible group numbers and duos.  From Kenny Rogers and Donna Summer’s 1980 Song of the Year medley to Billy Joel’s impeccable rendition of “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” these are incredible Grammy moments that connected with audiences across the world. 

45. Kenny Rogers & Donna Summer, Song of the Year Medley (1980)

 

One of the highlights of the 1980s Grammys was a medley that featured eight contenders for Song of the Year.  This superb assortment of songs featured the classic disco anthem “I Will Survive,” Billy Joel’s “Honesty,” the Doobie Brothers’ “Minute by Minute” and Kenny Rogers’ “She Believes in Me” that were performed by Rogers and Disco Queen Donna Summer.   To watch the whole performance, click here: http://youtu.be/4h3YWKnd5mg

44. Michael Jackson Tribute, Earth Song (2010)

 

A quintet of music’s greatest singers came together to pay tribute to the late King of Pop.   The 2010 Grammy Awards saw Celine Dion, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood and Smokey Robinson tackle MJ’s 1995 hit “Earth Song” that featured accompanying footage from This is It.   Click here to watch the quintet masterfully pay tribute to Michael Jackson: http://youtu.be/s4rAxidQ7oQ

43. Eminem, Dr. Dre, Rihanna, Adam Levine & Skylar Grey-Love The Way You Lie Part II & I Need A Doctor (2011)

 

This group of powerhouse performers gave the Grammy audience two incredible performances.   Adam Levine teamed up with Eminem and Rihanna to debut the second part of their hit collaboration: “Love the Way You Lie” that gave audience goose bumps.   Then, Eminem and Dr. Dre debuted their powerful single: “I Need a Doctor” that featured an explosive rap from Slim Shady and marked the return of Dr. Dre to the Grammy stage.   To watch these performances, click here: http://youtu.be/nNwEk8qMgPs

42. Phil Collins, Sussudio (1985)

 

Phil Collins exploded onto the Grammy stage with his No Jacket Required hit: “Sussudio.”  This performance featured strong vocals from the former Genesis leader and strong background musicians including his horn section.  Despite the video not being synced properly, this performance is worth watching because it will give viewers a needed energy boost.   Click here to watch this performance: http://youtu.be/nJ-_3DBVrfs

41. Billy Joel, We Didn’t Start the Fire (1990)

 

The American Piano Man opened up the 32nd Grammy Awards with a rousing version of his Storm Front hit “We Didn’t Start the Fire.”  This performance featured accompanying photos and videos from the mentioned historical events in the song’s lyrics and impressive vocals from Billy Joel.  To watch this performance, click this link: http://youtu.be/ph27FnDL48Y
