The 5 best venues where I've found great new Chicago music

I've been to my fair share of concerts over the years but with my new stepping grounds, I have put together a "thus far" list to the best venues I have been to, or really want to go to, in Chicago to see great new music. I suppose a list is in order, no?

Metro- I've been to 2 shows here so far and both times I have been introduced to new bands that started each show as the opener. I've previously mentioned Disappears, who opened for Times New Viking and Deerhunter, but then there was Growing, who opened for Hot Chip. Growing made me want to be deaf.

Double Door- Not only is this place talked about in the movie "High Fidelity" but it's in the ultra hip area that is the cusp of Wicker Park and Bucktown. Posters and flyers galore lure you to this venue to check out new and fun bands.

Subterranean- I see really cool and musically inclined people hanging outside of here almost every day when I am waiting for the bus after work. Every day I tell myself that I am going to check out some new music there since it has been enticing me for months, but I usually find myself catching up on sleep or reading Hunter S. Thompson books trying to relive the '60s and '70s. I know you'll be hearing good things about this venue from me in the future.

Grant Park (when the weather is nice)- Let's get to the point with this one. Lollapalooza.

The Potbelly's on the corner of Webster and Clybourn- a friend and I were in that area of town a few weeks ago enjoying some soup when we noticed that a guy was playing a guitar above us in a loft in the restaurant. His music was played over the P.A. system for some time and it was really good! I did not get his name but I would buy his CD.

I know this list is a bit short, but give me a break people. I've only lived here since July '08 so I've had limited time to get to shows. I do have a life other than music.... oh, who am I kidding? I am just cheap.
