On August 21, groups of aspiring filmmakers gathered at Oviedo High School to participate in the 48 Hour Film Project. Born out of one man's idea in 2001, the project involves locals coming together to create, write, shoot and edit a 4 to 7 minute film in 2 days. Successful for years and taking place in 90 cities, the 48 hour project is a weekend in which filmmakers gather under one roof for a crazy, sleepless two days of creativity.
The results of these efforts will be shown on Thursday, August 26 at Plaza Cinema in Downtown Orlando. All the films will be shown and 3 judges will be in attendance to select the best picture. The Orlando winner will go on to compete against the best films from other cities and the national/grand-prize winning film will be shown at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival!
This is part where you, the local critic and movie-goer, come in. For $10, you can view all of the films and support your local creative minds. The event begins at 6pm on Thursday, August 26 and tickets are available here. Your entry fee includes VIP Red carpet reception with cash bar and $2 discounted parking. Check-in begins 1 hour before EACH SCREENING at the registration table in the lobby of the Plaza Cinema Café (please bring your Pay Pal receipt).
