"The 44th Annual CMA Awards" -- My predictions

The CMA Awards will be held on Wednesday, November 10th, broadcast live on ABC TV from Nashville, TN, starting at 8:00 pm ET/delayed PT. Hosting the show are country superstars Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood.

Below you will find the nominees in each category along with my predictions on who I think will win.

Entertainer of the Year

Lady Antebellum

Miranda Lambert

Brad Paisley

Keith Urban

Zac Brown Band

This is a tough category, with each of the acts being really deserving. I have to go with one of the biggest tours this year, which would be Brad Paisley's H20 World Tour, and say I think that he will be the winner.

Female Vocalist of the Year

Miranda Lambert

Martina McBride

Reba McEntire

Taylor Swift

Carrie Underwood

While all these ladies are awesome, I think it's really down to Miranda Lambert or Carrie Underwood, and with the year that Miranda Lambert has been having, coupled with her nine CMA nominations, I'm going to go with Miranda for the win.

Male Vocalist of the Year

Dierks Bentley

Brad Paisley

Blake Shelton

George Strait

Keith Urban

What a great list of artists here. It's nice to see some new blood with Dierks Bentley and Blake Shelton, but I think one of them could have been left off to make room for Darius Rucker, who was nominated last year, and had a great year. Still, I'm predicting from the actual nominees, not who I wish was nominated. I have to go with the reigning male vocalist, Brad Paisley.

Album of the Year

(Award goes to Artist and Producer(s))

Need You Now

Lady Antebellum

Produced by Paul Worley and Lady Antebellum

Capitol Records Nashville

Play On

Carrie Underwood

Produced by Mark Bright and Max Martin

19 Recordings Limited/Arista Nashville

Revolution

Miranda Lambert

Produced by Frank Liddell and Mike Wrucke

Columbia Nashville

Twang

George Strait

Produced by Tony Brown and George Strait

MCA Nashville

Up On The Ridge

Dierks Bentley

Produced by Jon Randall Stewart

Capitol Records Nashville

I was a little surprised that Dierks Bentley's bluegrass album was nominated for album of the year. I thought Alan Jackson's Freight Train might have been a better option. Back to my predictions. This one is tough. Discounting Dierks' album, the other four nominees have each been big sellers, and hit-makers. I would lean towards Lady Antebellum and Miranda Lambert as the front runners, although Carrie Underwood's Play On is right up there as well, and you can't count out King George, as he's won this category I'm going to have to predict that Miranda Lambert will take this one.

Musical Event of the Year

(Award goes to each Artist)

"Bad Angel"

Dierks Bentley featuring Miranda Lambert and Jamey Johnson

Capitol Records Nashville

"Can't You See"

Zac Brown Band featuring Kid Rock

Southern Ground/Atlantic Records

"Hillbilly Bone"

Blake Shelton featuring Trace Adkins

Reprise Records

"I'm Alive"

Kenny Chesney with Dave Matthews

BNA Records

"Till The End"

Alan Jackson with Lee Ann Womack

Arista Nashville

All good choices, but only two of these actually were played on country radio, so I'm going with "Hillbilly Bone" from Blake Shelton and Trace Adkins.

New Artist of the Year

Luke Bryan

Easton Corbin

Jerrod Niemann

Chris Young

Zac Brown Band

While I'm a huge Chris Young fan, and would love to see him win, I really have got to go with the Zac Brown Band taking this award home.

Vocal Group of the Year

Lady Antebellum

Little Big Town

Rascal Flatts

The Band Perry

Zac Brown Band

Rascal Flatts had many years of winning this category, but today, it's really between Lady Antebellum and the Zac Brown Band. I'm predicting that Lady Antebellum, who are the reigning Vocal Group will win.

Vocal Duo of the Year

Brooks & Dunn

Joey + Rory

Montgomery Gentry

Steel Magnolia

Sugarland

While some voters may want to be sentimental and vote for Brooks & Dunn, really, I think their time is past, and Sugarland is who I think will win this.

Single of the Year

(Award goes to Artist and Producer(s))

"A Little More Country Than That"

Easton Corbin

Produced by Carson Chamberlain

Mercury Nashville

"Hillbilly Bone"

Blake Shelton featuring Trace Adkins

Produced by Scott Hendricks

Reprise Records

"Need You Now"

Lady Antebellum

Produced by Paul Worley and Lady Antebellum

Capitol Records Nashville

"The House That Built Me"

Miranda Lambert

Produced by Frank Liddell and Mike Wrucke

Columbia Nashville

"White Liar"

Miranda Lambert

Produced by Frank Liddell and Mike Wrucke

Columbia Nashville

My all-time favorite song of 2010 is "The House That Built Me," so that is the song I am going to predict will take this. The only other song that is even close would be Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now," but I think Miranda Lambert will pull it out.

Song of the Year

(Award goes to Songwriter(s))

"A Little More Country Than That"

Rory Lee Feek, Don Poythress, and Wynn Varble

"Need You Now"

Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley, Hillary Scott, and Josh Kear

"The House That Built Me"

Tom Douglas and Allen Shamblin

"Toes"

Zac Brown, Wyatt Durrette, John Driskell Hopkins, and Shawn Mullins

"White Liar"

Miranda Lambert and Natalie Hemby

While I chose Miranda Lambert's "The House That Built Me" for Single of the Year, I am going to go with Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now" for Song of the Year.

Music Video of the Year

(Award goes to Artist and Director)

"Hillbilly Bone"

Blake Shelton featuring Trace Adkins

Directed by Roman White

"Need You Now"

Lady Antebellum

Directed by David McClister

"The House That Built Me"

Miranda Lambert

Directed by Trey Fanjoy

"Water"

Brad Paisley

Directed by Jim Shea

"White Liar"

Miranda Lambert

Directed by Chris Hicky

While Brad Paisley's "Water" video was really action-filled, and fun to watch, Miranda Lambert's "The House That Built Me" was heart-stirring, and it's my choice for "Video of the Year."
